Public Meeting Monday 30th April 8pm at Stewkley Village Hall

Meeting (64K)

A packed hall attended the meeting, chaired by Stephen Joseph of Transport 2000 and hosted by Stewkley Parish Council.

The meat of the meeting was the explanation by Tom Cohen, transport consultant from Stear Davis Gleave, of the intent and methods of the alternatives report. The commissioning of the report was the result of earlier findings that suggested more work needed to be done to compare the suggested A418 Improvements with alternatives, and would cost £40,000. Half this money was to be raised by Bucks County Council and the other half by Friends of the Earth. At the end of the process the report would feed into the council's decision on the A418 improvements, expected in late summer or autumn 2007

Seán Kelly from Wing gave his local, anti-bypass perspective, which you can read here.

A lively question and answer session resulted in more suggestions yet for the alternatives report to consider.

Finally, a collection was held at the door to help with FOE's £20,000 contribution.
